Very good cuisine - even at take-away times!

Schäufele is crispy and delicious. Operation still needs a little practice. No dessert could be ordered because the waitress somehow forgot the back half of the table.

Franconian food, Franconian surroundings and, unsurprisingly, real Franconians. I love it!

Because the service is right, the price is unbeatable and the food is a dream die and the nice Amy (waitress) also gave us great holiday activity tips. Out of 10 vacation days, we've been here five times to eat, on the next vacation we'll come back to the Rote Ochsen, until then ... stay healthy and get through the pandemic well?

We stopped here on the way out of our vacation and looked for restaurants nearby on Google. At first we had some concerns about the waiting times mentioned several times ... we can only say TOP ... drinks sofirt, food after 15 minutes, special requests regarding side dishes no problem. The food was very tasty and good portions, the price-performance ratio was right ... Meat very tender, huge children's portion, nice service, cozy beer garden. We can only recommend the "Red Ox"!

Very nice restaurant in downtown Herzogenaurach. Food takes a little long but was very tasty.

Grade 3 is the average of two visits. Grade 1 on the first visit. The assistant cook probably made the merettich sauce for boiled beef and the beer sauce for Schäufele. Except for the shoveling, everything is a little homemade. Grade 5 on the second visit. We only chose what had to be freshly prepared and it was very tasty. When the weather is good, you can eat in the garden. Then order a table.

Food very good. Service less. Very long wait (almost an hour). In addition, food that had not been ordered and sometimes the wrong side dishes were served. Well, that happens when the service doesn't write down the orders.

Excellent scoop with potato dumplings and sauerkraut! A huge portion. Children's menu dumpling (2 pieces) with sauce € 3.50 Drinks on tap tasty and very good value. Wonderful ambience inside, half-timbered. Child-friendly service Clean toilet All in all more than satisfied Tip: stop off after shopping (Adidas, Puma & Co.) 5 minutes by car from the shops. The schäufele is normally great there and I’ve eaten there numerous times, out of which only once I saw that our friend’s schäufele wasn’t too crispy looking. Other than that, in this area it’s still the beat place to go for a schäufele fix. I wouldn’t recommend their karpfen if you are concerned about it being too oily and a little earthy in smell..

We were three on Saturday at noon. Although the place was full, the service was fast and friendly. Drinks were there and the food after 15 minutes. My husband had a shovel-better is not possible. Drops from the bone and great crust. Also sauce, kloss and Wirsching very delicious. Fish in dill sauce also perfect and the spaetzle for children a huge portion. Everything was great and very good value for money

Great place to try your first German beer, just like I did. If you don't speak german, not to worry, they have an english version of the menu! They also have free Wi-Fi should you need it.

Very good Frankish food. Super fast service and the waiteresses are really efficient and friendly. Definitely recommended!

Good German food

One of the best restaurants in the small village of Herzogenaurach which serves authentic German food and local beer. Cozy and serves fast.

I came here for dinner on a weeknight in Oct 2016. It was somewhat crowded, mostly with locals but also a couple tables of adidas/puma people. The food was alright. I ordered the Wiener schnitzel and fries, along with a couple glasses of wine. It's pretty hard to mess up Wiener schnitzel and fries, and what I ate was fine. Very bland, but that's Germany. The wine was also just okay. I ordered a rosé so I'm not sure what I was expecting but it was meh. The service was really, really, painfully slow. Other than placing my initial order, I had to flag down the waitress every time I needed something, like ordering another glass of wine (my glass had been empty for almost 10 minutes) and asking for the check. It wasn't like the waitress was terribly busy, she was in the back at the bar chatting with a bartender. The atmosphere and decorations were very cute and cozy.

Poor customer service! After waiting for over 45 minutes for our food we paid for our drinks and left. There were at least 10-12 guests that came after us who were served promptly what they ordered. Waitress did not give a reason or lend an apology. Very disappointing! We certainly will not visit this restaurant again.

Food was good, atmosphere was good, reasonable pricing. Restrooms were a bit in need of a cleaning otherwise a very enjoyable dinner.
